Sample spreads from the original design. The pages above show the start of academic articles, table design in relation to the body content, and image/caption design. The one column grid makes line text too long and dense to read.
After:
Redesigned front and back cover. For special editions, a certain color palette is used to marry content with design. In this case, red and yellow were used because the special edition was about China. and Latin American relations.
Sample spreads of the new redesign. For easy reading, my main goal was to create a two-column grid in where body copy and images could flow easily on the page. Both captions and tables were redesigned with fast legibility on mind.
